Coffee BREWING TIPS for coffee beans and ground coffee:

Preheating:
Preheating thick porcelain coffee mugs or coffee cups - filled with water- in the microwave for one minute prevents
that your coffee doesn't cool down immediately when pouring and stays warm longer.

Water and paper filters:
When using Mulvadi coffee, the most important element of a perfect cup of coffee is the water.
If tap water is high in mineral content or impurities, a good choice is to switch to a quality bottled water or water filter.
To brew use a French Press or a high-grade drip coffee maker with unbleached - natural colored light brown paper coffee filters.
For peak flavor use 1 to 2 level tablespoons of coffee and 6 oz. cool water. For milder coffee, add slightly more water before brewing.

To prevent bitterness, remove the coffee grounds and coffee filter when finished brewing.

Keeping it warm and fresh:
Coffee left on the warming plate will continue “cooking”.
Best is to pour the left over coffee into a thermal pot, preferably one with a vacuum seal.
The latest brewers come with a thermal pot instead of the traditional electricity wasting warmer plate.
To enjoy a hot 'cup of Joe' it pays to pre-heat the thermal canister with hot tap water for about 5 minutes.
In all circumstances keep coffee warm around 190 degrees and serve within 30 minutes for best taste when kept on a warmer plate.
Coffee can stay fresh in a quality thermos up to three hours.

Grinding coffee beans:
For best flavor extraction, it is essential to grind coffee evenly with a burr grinder.
Freshly grinding the beans before brewing coffee is one of the most important steps for achieving a quality cup of coffee.
Coffee should not be ground more than 2 minutes before brewing or major staling (oxidation) begins to take place.

Coffee Grinders: There are two main types of coffee bean grinders available.
Best is to use a Burr Grinder rather than a Blade Grinder in order to assure consistency of grind size and peak flavor.
Blade coffee grinders sell for about $20, grind the bean unevenly, and are messy.
Burr coffee grinders, are about $60-$125, grind evenly, and are clean and easy.
The extra investment is one of the best you will make, as burr grinders improve both the ease of brewing and the coffee quality.

Coffee SHELF LIFE, STORAGE long and short term to preserve freshness.

Mulvadi coffee is packed in air tight sealed bags and have a one way air valve that locks out air and seals in freshness.
Protects from moisture and oxygen that makes foods go stale.
Once opened all coffee will start to taste stale after one week no matter how it is stored.
Short term: Store in a dark place at room temperature using the coffee clip provided (if any) or best in an airtight container.
Long term: Refrigerate unopened bags.
Shelf life: 12 months.
Do not store instant coffee in the refrigerator but in a cool and dry area.

During shipping some or all coffee bags may change shape or become hard as a brick in the un- pressurized air cargo bay.
The coffee gasses from the roasting procedure that makes bags go puffy (still many days after packing) were sucked out
during transport through the one way air valve that is inserted to prevent the bags from tearing when they get to puffy.
The loss of coffee gasses does not compromise the vacuum, freshness or shelf life.
Just open the bag before use and the grind or beans become loose again.
